Blessed Francis Seelos Academy is committed to graduating academically prepared students who are also exemplary Christians. Religion is a not only one of the subjects taught daily, but is incorporated into all classroom instruction. Sacrament preparation for Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation is provided as part of the regular religion curriculum.
Our Good Samaritan Program is an excellent means for students to learn their faith by “doing.” In addition, students actively participate in weekly mass, Stations of the Cross, Adoration, and several all-school liturgies and devotions commemorating key catholic traditions and beliefs.
Our parents are also active participants in our faith community. They attend school Masses, prayer services, and participate in the weekly parent "Rosary Club" as they are able.
Good Samaritan Program
The Good Samaritan Program is a school-wide program that encourages our students to practice their Christian virtues by serving others. Service hours are completed in and out of the classroom.
Prayer List
Our students are taught the power of prayer and are welcome to add their special intentions to our daily prayer list.
Seelos Samaritans Club
The Seelos Samaritans are group of students, parents, and faculty members who focus their efforts on service to the community. Projects have ranged from welcoming home veterans as part of Honor Flight Pittsburgh, maintaining our school’s Adopt a Pine-way, playing Bingo with our elderly neighbors, and hosting an appreciation dinner for our local first responders.
Random Acts of Kindness Club
Student members in the Random Acts of Kindness Club promote kindness and inclusion throughout the school with special projects, and uplifting notes to students.
Mass Buddies
Seelos Academy positions our oldest students as role models for our youngest students to reinforce Catholic tradition and values and foster a closely-bonded school community. Kindergarten students sit with their “mass buddy” during weekly liturgies.
Service Projects
Blessed Francis Seelos Academy Student Council sponsors various acts of community service throughout the school year, including but not limited to: Visiting with the Little Sisters of the Poor, serving dinner to our local first responders, singing at the Vincentian Home, canned food drives, Socktober, and Halloween candy collections for the needy.
